“LENDING TO THE LORD”

Kindness is not just an act; it’s a reflection of God’s heart. When we show compassion to those in need, we do more than offer help; we honor God Himself. Scripture tells us that our generosity toward the poor is seen and remembered by the Lord, as if we are giving directly to Him.
This verse is a powerful reminder that acts of kindness do not go unnoticed. Whether it’s feeding the hungry, encouraging someone in need, or simply being present for the hurting, our love for others becomes an offering to God. He doesn’t just see the action, He honors it. And He promises to repay what we give, not always in material ways, but with peace, joy, and His divine favor.
We don’t give to get; we give because it’s the heart of Christ. When we extend His love to others, we become His hands and feet in a broken world.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the opportunity to serve others as an act of worship to You. Teach me to see the poor and the hurting through Your eyes, and that’s with compassion, love, and dignity. Give me a generous heart, not looking for reward, but simply desiring to please You. Use me to be a vessel of Your kindness in the lives of those who need it most. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen and To God Be The Glory!
With warmth and blessings,
Rev. Dr. Roberta M. Heck, Chaplain
