“TRUST ~ LOVE ~ AND TRUTH IN A BROKEN WORLD”
The phrase “Some say trust gets you killed, love gets you hurt, and being real gets you hated” echoes the painful reality of living in a fallen world. People are often betrayed when they put their trust in the wrong hands, wounded when they love deeply, and rejected when they choose honesty over hypocrisy. These experiences can leave scars, and sometimes they tempt us to shut down our hearts altogether to stop trusting, stop loving, and stop being real.
But God calls us to live differently.
Trust in people may fail, but trust in God never fails. Human love may wound, but God’s love heals and restores. Being real may bring rejection, but God honors truth and integrity. The enemy wants us to believe that protecting ourselves through walls of mistrust, bitterness, and silence is the safest way to live. But the Word of God tells us that freedom, strength, and eternal security are found when we live according to His Spirit, not our fears.
Jesus Himself lived this out. He trusted His Father even unto death on the cross. He loved humanity so deeply that He bore betrayal, denial, and unimaginable pain. He was real and spoke the truth without compromise, even when it caused Him to be hated and crucified. And yet, through that trust, love, and truth, salvation was birthed for all of us.
When you feel that trusting others might destroy you, remember that God is your ultimate refuge. When love leaves you hurting, let it point you to the everlasting love of Christ that never fails. And when your authenticity brings hatred, rejoice, for Jesus said: “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you for great is your reward in heaven” (Matthew 5:11–12).
The reality is this: living God’s way will cost you something in this world, but it will secure for you everything in eternity. Do not allow betrayal, heartbreak, or rejection to harden you. Instead, let them press you closer to the God who sees, heals, and vindicates.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” Psalm 28:7 (KJV)
Heavenly Father, I come before You with an open heart. I confess that sometimes trust feels dangerous, love feels painful, and honesty feels costly. But Lord, I choose to keep my heart soft before You. Teach me to trust in You above all else. Heal me where love has left scars and remind me of Your unfailing love that never abandons me. Give me courage to remain real and truthful, even if it means being misunderstood or rejected. Let my life be a reflection of Jesus, who trusted, loved, and walked in truth until the very end. Keep me rooted in Your Word and covered by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray.
