PART 1 - GRACE BEYOND THE PAST - “Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future”

The phrase “Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future” is not found verbatim in Scripture, but its truth echoes throughout the Bible. God has always chosen to work through broken people with painful histories to accomplish His purposes.
Think of Moses, who murdered a man but became the great deliverer of Israel. Think of David, who committed adultery and orchestrated a death, yet was still called a man after God’s own heart. Think of Paul, who persecuted the early church with zeal, but was transformed by grace to become the most passionate apostle of Christ.
Their past didn’t disqualify them. It was their encounters with the living God that redefined them.
The same is true today. No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, God’s grace is greater. Your past may shape your story, but it doesn’t have to dictate your destiny. In Christ, the old is gone. The new has come. God doesn’t see you through the lens of your failure, but through the lens of His Son.
Likewise, we must not idolize saints of the past as perfect. They were flawed, but faithful. Their journeys remind us that redemption is always possible, and sanctification is a process. There is hope for the most lost and healing for the most broken.
PLEASE, THINK ON THIS:
*Are there parts of your past you still feel ashamed of? Have you brought them before God?
*Do you believe God can use your story to bring hope to someone else?
*How can you extend grace to others; by remembering they too have a future in Christ?
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
My Heavenly Father, I thank You for being the God of second chances, new beginnings, and restored lives. I confess the parts of my past that still weigh heavily on me, and I place them in Your hands. Thank You that in Christ, I am a new creation. Help me walk in the freedom You’ve given me and to see others not for who they were, but for who they can become in You. Teach me to extend the same mercy You’ve shown me, and to trust that no story is too broken for Your redemption. In Jesus’ Name I Pray.
Amen and To God Be The Glory!
With love, faith, and fervent prayers,
