In a world that often praises self-promotion and personal achievement, humility can seem countercultural. Yet, in God’s kingdom, humility is not weakness—it’s strength under control. It’s choosing to trust God more than ourselves, acknowledging our need for Him in every area of life.
Humility invites God’s presence. It opens the door for grace, wisdom, and spiritual growth. Jesus, the Son of God, demonstrated perfect humility—washing His disciples’ feet, serving others, and ultimately laying down His life.
If He could humble Himself in such ways, surely, we can follow His lead. Being humble doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself; it means thinking of yourself less.
It’s seeing yourself clearly—both your strengths and your limitations—and walking in the truth that every good gift comes from above. When we lower ourselves, God promises to lift us up. He honors the heart that bows before Him in reverence, surrender, and trust.
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” James 4:10 (NIV)
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart that desires to be humble. Forgive me for the times I’ve walked in pride or tried to rely on my own strength. Teach me to walk in the humility of Christ—serving others, loving well, and putting You first in all things. Help me to remember that You oppose the proud but give grace to the humble. May my life reflect the gentle strength of Jesus, and may Your name be glorified through all I say and do.
In Jesus’ name, Amen and To God Be The Glory!
