“AND SATAN ASKED ~ WHAT IS MAN TO YOU”

I imagine a moment in the heavens, not written plainly in Scripture, yet deeply felt in the tension of the spiritual realm. A moment where Satan, the accuser of the brethren, looks upon humanity and dares to question God: “What is man to You, that You should give him Your grace?”
It is the same question that echoes through the ages, the same question whispered into wounded hearts, the same accusation hurled at our failures. Why them? Why love them? Why forgive them again?
Scripture gives voice to this question, not from Satan’s mouth, but from the awe-filled heart of a worshiper: “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Psalm 8:4, KJV
When I read this verse, I hear heaven standing still. I hear creation pausing in wonder. I hear God’s heart responding, not with explanation, but with action.
Because God did not answer the question with words. He answered it with grace. Man is dust, yet God breathes life into him. Man is fragile, yet God crowns him with glory and honor. Man falls, yet God reaches down again and again to lift him up.
And Satan hates this.
He points at our weakness, but God points at His covenant. He lists our sins, but God displays His Son. He calls us unworthy, but God calls us chosen. I know this because I have lived it.
I have been the one who wondered why God would still look my way after the mistakes, after the brokenness, after the moments I could barely lift my head in prayer. I have felt the weight of accusation, both from the enemy and from my own heart. Yet grace met me there. Not because I deserved it, but because God is faithful.
Grace is not God ignoring our sin. Grace is God conquering it. Grace is Jesus stretched wide on a cross, answering once and for all the question, “What is man to Me?”
Man is worth redeeming. Man is worth restoring. Man is worth the blood of the Lamb. If Satan ever dares to ask God why He gives us grace, the cross stands as heaven’s eternal reply.
And if you ever ask yourself that same question, why God hasn’t given up on you, just look to Jesus. You are not an afterthought. You are the object of divine love, pursued by mercy, upheld by grace.
Father God, I come before You humbled and in awe of Your love. When the enemy accuses me and reminds me of who I used to be, remind me of who You say I am. Thank You for being mindful of me, even in my weakness. Thank You for grace that covers, restores, and transforms. Help me to walk boldly in the identity You have given me through Christ and never doubt Your love for me again. Strengthen my faith, silence the voice of the accuser, and let my life bring honor to Your name. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and To God Be The Glory!
